News
BBQ@ Lossiemouth (23/06/2007).
Thanks v much to Ann and Alex Metzler for welcoming us (again) in their home. Unfortunately the wheather was not as normal and was quite wet. However Alex was prepared and had put up his Marquise - this time to keep us out of the rain instead of out of the sun. The wheather did however not dampen the spirits of the 30- odd members that were there and we all enjoyed the afternoon thoroughly. Thanks also to Ian and Linda Sandison for doing the BBQing (BM 24/06/07).
Curling (March 4, 2007)
For the second year running we met at Curl Aberdeen for a meal, followed by curling. Once again we could welcome our Consul general from Edinburgh, Bruno Widrig, and his wife Danielle who are eager curlers. Our curling instructors were brilliant and we could soon goon to have an exciting date, which was discussed afterwards over a few drinks (BM 11/03/07).
Samichlaus & AGM 2006
We had a very enjoyable Samichlaus, followed by a Fondue and a lively AGM - thanks to Brigitte Marshall! For reasons unknown we were not able to get into our normal venue, the Church Hall in Drumoak. Brigitte then came to our rescue and offered the use of a room at the premises of Grampian Society for the Blind in Aberdeen, and we all relocated into town. The evening was, despite (or because of?) this hick-up a great success. (BM 25/01/07)
Aberdeen Swiss Club Golf Trophy
Swiss National Day Celebrations 2006
Many thanks once again to Kate and Tom Miller for having us a their house for the Swiss National Day celebration. Unfortunately I was not able to attend. But I have been assured that, as always, everyone had a great time. (BM 21/08/06)
BBQ@ Lossiemouth.
More than forty members of the Aberdeen and Inverness
Swiss Clubs descended on the Metzler House with children and pets, and Ann and
Alex pulled out all the stops to make us welcome and comfortable. The weather
was good, which was a surprise for those of us who made their way through heavy
downpours to Lossiemouth, and the company was excellent. The barbecue was once
more in the expert hands of Ian and Linda Sandison, and the salad and dessert
buffet offered something for everybodyanielle. They contributed generously to the BBQ and our raffle and Bruno Widrig acted as maître
de cérémonie for the raffle.
Our new Aberdeen Swiss Club
badges sold like “heissi weggli” and were already spotted on the first
T-shirts.
All in all a great afternoon
- thank you, Ann and Alex! (BM 25/06/06)
18. May 2006.
Marlo, Peter, Sheila, Douglas and myself have represented the Aberdeen Swiss Club at a reception celebrating the opening of the Swiss Consulate General in Edinburgh and the appointment of Bruno Widrig as Consul General. The reception took place in the
Signet library in Edinburgh and was attended by many good and greats including
our Bundesrat Pascal Couchepin, the Swiss Ambassador to the UK, Alexis
Lautenberg, and members of the Scottish parliament. Peter took the occasion to
make publicity for the Aberdeen Swiss Club by distributing a few of our new
badges (I think the Bundesrat took one home too) and Douglas took it upon
himself to present one to Ursula Andress. I do not know what she was doing at the reception but rumour has it there are some
interesting pictures of her and Douglas.. (BM 24/05/06).
