PROGRAMME FOR THE SOCIAL CALENDAR
2008
ANNUAL
DINNER, FRIDAY 1 FEBRUARY 7 PM for 7.30PM
This will be held at McKenzies
Restaurant, 2 Bridge Road, Colinton, Edinburgh. The cost of the evening will be
£30 per person to include pre-dinner “bubbly”, a 3-course meal with 3 or 4
choices, 2 glasses of wine or soft drinks and tea or coffee. Gratuities are not
included. As numbers are limited to 34, I would advise early booking. Please
complete the attached slip and send, enclosing a cheque for £30, to the Treasurer
(address on slip) by 17 January.
For those using public transport, Bus no.
10 from Princes Street, leaving at 18.45 or 19.05 will get you there in time.
Returning to town, the bus leaves from Colinton half-hourly, at .29 and .59
until 22.59. It takes around 25 minutes.
THEATRE OUTING, SATURDAY 15 MARCH 2.30PM
The highly
acclaimed Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society are performing “The
Gondoliers” in The Kings Theatre, Edinburgh and we have secured tickets in the
Circle, priced £15, for the matinee. There is a pre-show talk by the Musical
Director, David Lyle, at 1.45. This is free but we require to reserve seats.
Please complete the attached slip and send, enclosing a cheque for £15, to the
Treasurer (address on slip) by 17 January
FONDUE EVENING, FRIDAY 28 MARCH 7PM for 7.30PM
This will
again be held in the Queensferry Boat Club. If you have not been there before,
please give Pam Smart a ring (0131 331 1683) and ask for directions. Cost £7,
all included. Please contact Ursula Ross by Friday 15 March if you wish to come
(address, telephone number and e-mail address on the previous page).
SPRING DAY OUTING, THURSDAY 24 APRIL 12.30PM
The venue for
the lunch will be Floors Castle, Kelso. Please contact Ursula Ross by 17 April
if you wish to attend. As public transport is difficult we would ask anyone who
is able to provide a lift also to contact Ursula.
SKITTLES
MATCH AGAINST DUNFERMLINE, FRIDAY 16 MAY
The venue for
this is, as always, The Sheep`s Heid Inn, 43 The Causeway, Duddingston, EH15.
The match starts at 7.30pm but if you wish food beforehand please contact
Ursula Ross by Sunday 11 May.
WALK
ALONG THE WATER OF LEITH, SUNDAY 8 JUNE 2PM
This will not
be an arduous walk, but suitable footwear is advised. Meet at the traffic
lights at Woodhall Road (beside the Garden Triangle and opposite McKenzies
Restaurant) at 2.00pm. We will walk from Colinton to Slateford. For those using
public transport, again take Bus no. 10 (see 1 February instructions)
