5 January 2008
Dear Member,
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2008. Although we have had a wet and blustery start to the New Year, with some of our members experiencing heavy snow, the winter solstice is behind us and the evenings must be getting lighter.
The Club ended 2007 with the Christmas Party. It was made extra special by the presence of so many young children and also some new faces. Thanks go to all who contributed in one way or another to make the afternoon the success it undoubtedly was.
The Committee has organised the social programme for this year and I attach a copy of the events so that you can put them firmly in your diary. We hope you will be able to participate in and enjoy many, if not all, of them.
May I remind you that the 2008 subscription is now due and, if you have not already paid, would you please complete the slip on the attached sheet and send it with a cheque for £10 made out to “Swiss Club Edinburgh” to the Treasurer (address on the slip).
We are pleased to have welcomed so many new members to the Club during the latter part of 2007 and I would invite anyone with strong Swiss connections (e.g. partners and spouses) to become a member in his/her own right.
Your new Committee, elected at the AGM in November, is as follows:
President: Ursula Ross
Vice-President: Jill Shanks
Secretary: Pamela Smart
Treasurer: Patricia Rudolf Von Rohr
Welfare: Ursula Ross
Committee Members: Trudi Bott and Ursula Lamb
You will be aware that there is some urgency to reply to this letter informing us of your intention to attend some of the events. As the Club must book ahead of time to secure venues or seats, we would ask you to commit yourself now. We cannot guarantee that there will be any vacancies at the “eleventh hour”
Kindest regards,
Pamela Smart
