The Swiss Selection Edinburgh Fringe

31 July - 25 August 2019

Each August, Scotland’s capital city is transformed into the largest performing arts stage in the world. Featuring theatre and comedy, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, better known simply as «The Fringe», was founded in 1974 as an alternative to the Edinburgh International Festival. Now, around three and a half thousand shows are presented at the festival each year, and around one million visitors attend.

This year, the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia will support a selection of three theatre companies/artists to present their work at Summerhall under the «Swiss Selection Edinburgh» banner. The works featured are Traumboy/Traumgirl by Daniel Hellmann and Anne Welenc, 8:8 by Mercimax and 21 by Mats Staub.

See below for more information on each production, as well as on other Swiss productions featured in this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
