Send us your eventHike & Wine Tasting in the New Forest | Saturday 20 September 2025, from 09.00
(NSH Members Only)
Join us on Saturday 20th September for a unique and fun day out combining a scenic hike in the beautiful New Forest with a vineyard tour and wine tasting.
We will be visiting The Wharie Experience, a vineyard in Hampshire run by Swiss oenologist Guillaume Lagger.
t produces a variety of high-quality still wines as well as ciders. We’ll travel down by train, hike to the vineyard, and after the tour and tasting, continue our walk to the south coast for the return journey.
Please note: Although the route is relatively flat, this event is best suited to regular walkers and fit individuals, as the total distance is over 13km.
The Plan
- Departure: Meet at London Waterloo in time for the 09.05 train, arriving at Brockenhurst at 10.37.
- Hike part 1: A 7km scenic hike through the New Forest moorland to reach the vineyard.
- Vineyard tour: A guided tour of the vineyard and winemaking area, led by the Swiss oenologist.
- Lunch: Bring a pack lunch or picnic to enjoy at the vineyard.
- Tasting: We’ll sample several wines and ciders produced at Wharie in a guided tasting. Depending on our numbers, we may split into two consecutive tasting groups. If you choose to purchase a bottle(s) we have negotiated a 10% discount.
- Hike part 2: A relaxed walk to Lymington on the south coast. From there, you can catch the train back to London. If there’s interest, we can explore this charming old town, stroll along the seafront, or stop for a drink at a local pub before returning.
