Swiss Club Manchester Update

INFORMATION

An update from Manchester

Dear friends

It looks like the year 2020 is going down as yet another 'annus horribilis' in the history books. I wish I didn't have to mention this dreadful corona virus, but we are all still very much affected by it.

However, there is much hope that good vaccines may now be on the horizon by the end of this year. So let's be optimistic that our lives will have a sense of normality again sometime next year.

You will have guessed that Fr. Christmas is unable to come to the Brookdale Club this year and is isolating in his North Pole residence with his reindeers. We are also really sad that the New Year's Lunch, usually in January, has had to be cancelled as well.

Let's hope though that the Raclette Party will take place in March or it may even have to be April, keep your fingers crossed!

Just a little reminder of instructions from the Swiss Embassy. It is still ongoing at this present time that you personally are still able to sign and return to Switzerland any 'Proof of Life Certificate' for the AHV.

Swiss Citizens, resident in the UK, without a British Passport, should apply for 'UK settled status' in the near future and at the latest by 30th June 2021.

I truly wish that we will be able to celebrate Christmas with our loved ones. On behalf of the Swiss Club Committee I wish you all good health and the very best for a much happier New Year. Stay safe and God bless.
